T2 corporate tax return
Also known as: T2, T2 return
The T2 is the corporate income tax return that virtually every corporation resident in Canada must file with the CRA each year, even if it owes no tax.
The T2 reports a corporation's income, deductions, and tax for its fiscal year. It bundles several schedules — including the GIFI financial statements, Schedule 1, and Schedule 8 — into one filing.
The CRA only accepts T2 returns through certified tax software, so accounting tools prepare the package and hand it off; they don't transmit it directly.
How Comma handles it
Comma assembles a T2 preparation package straight from your ledger — GIFI schedules, Schedule 1, Schedule 8, and the federal + Ontario computation — then exports the GIFI file for certified software. Comma prepares, but never transmits.
